• DESTINATION

While visiting Paros, why not take the chance to truly explore the island? Take a step out of the regular routine and explore the beautiful villages which decorate Paros, brimming with culture and tradition and waiting to be discovered.

Where better to start than with the original capital of the island, Lefkes. The mountainous village, just below a pine grove is the perfect example of a traditional Cycladic town, with old washhouses, traditional tavernas, and stunning churches, such as the famous Agia Triada, lining the pathways.

A TRADITIONAL CYCLADIC VILLAGE WITH OLD WASHHOUSES AND STUNNING CHURCHES

The quaint town is brimming with culture and even contains a House of Literature, founded by the Municipality of Paros and the European Translation Centre. The building was repurposed with the aim of housing writers, translators, and anyone else who is looking for a peaceful space to work.

If you’re a history buff, walking through the town you will notice that the buildings in the village are built amphitheatrically: This was how the first residents attempted to protect themselves from invaders when they initially settled in the village. History is in general an important element of the village, with a war memorial, created for the fallen soldiers, located in the central square.

For those who enjoy or want to experience a traditional Greek ceremony, every year Lefkes holds the Festival of Karavolas, a celebration at the end of summer during which attendees can enjoy traditional foods such as snails, fava, chickpeas, and fresh local produce, culminating in a classically large Greek feast and celebrations that go on into the early hours of the morning, with traditional dancing and Greek music. A wonderful experience that will stay with you long after the summer is over.

As Lefkes clearly proves, culture and tradition are very important on the island of Paros, and Summer Senses Luxury Resort combines the perfect balance of Cycladic traditions and unique luxury experiences. After a day on the island, enjoy an authentic Greek meal at Gaia Restaurant, made with the freshest ingredients and served in a stunning location. Alternatively experience the gourmet flavours of Greece with fine dining dishes at Galazia Hytra, the perfect way to end your summer island adventures.
